Jerusalem: A Cup Of Trembling and A Burdensome Stone

March 26, 2018  |  Jack Harris

On the 100th day since President Trump’s announcement concerning our Nations recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital, the forces that hate Israel are rallying at her border.

Israeli forces are preparing for Hamas’ mass marches on Israel’s border, which could result in many civilian casualties.  -Aryeh Savir, World Israel News

Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of trembling unto all the people round about, when they shall be in the siege both against Judah and against Jerusalem. And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.   -Zachariah 12:2-3

Recently a friend of ours was talking with my wife about President Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the Capitol of Israel. Our friend asked the question, What does Jack think about this? This simple question, I confess, took me a bit by surprise. I’ve been preaching on the subject of Israel and Bible Prophecy for over forty years and have always taught that the modern restoration of the State of Israel is the sign and key to understanding End Time Prophecy and that Jerusalem will be at the heart of worldwide controversy; Jesus said,

Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.  -Luke 21:24

This fact of the modern State of Israel and Jerusalem; at the heart of Middle Eastern conflict and Worldwide controversy are at the heart of Biblical Prophecy. It’s also incontrovertible evidence that GOD’s Prophetic Clock is ticking and that GOD’s New World Order is eminent, it’s in the very process of being birthed.

Of course Jerusalem is the Capital of Israel! Anyone who’s ever read the Bible should understand this! At least every believer should. To draw any other conclusions requires some very creative editing of the Word Of GOD.

The Beginning Of Sorrows began over 1948 years ago with the Roman destruction of Jerusalem and it’s Temple in 70 AD. Since that time, Jerusalem, Israel’s Holy City (and her Capitol) has been trodden down of Gentiles, just as Jesus said.

A NATION BORN IN A DAY!
ISRAELI-FLAG

Who hath heard such a thing? who hath seen such things? Shall the earth be made to bring forth in one day? or shall a nation be born at once? for as soon as Zion travailed, she brought forth her children.  -Isaiah 66:8

After Almost Two Millenia Of Exile
ISRAEL IS REBORN – MAY 14, 1948

And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel, and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.  -Isaiah 11:12

We seem to have entered another time the Bible also foretells; the times of rampant spiritual deception. A time when believer’s seem be more influenced by what is presented as political correctness by worldly media outlets than by what The Word Of God clearly declares.

And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:  -2 Thessalonians 2:11

Still, I’m not a gloom and doomer; I’ve not written off our Nation, People, Church nor the Middle East. God is moving wonderfully all around the world if we’ll open our eyes to see what HE’s doing and are willing to lend ourselves to it. I happen to be one of those who believes in alternate outcomes if we choose rightly.

Jesus fulfills Zachariah’s Prophecy as He descends from the Mt. Of Olives, riding on a small donkey. He’s about to make what we remember as His Triumphal Entry into Jerusalem. This is on the very day foretold by Daniel the Prophet, the day we now celebrate as Palm Sunday.

Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem: behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation; lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.  -Zachariah 9:9

Sadly, He came unto His own and they received Him not. He weeps over the City and makes this declaration that should both captivate and fill us with great hope. It should also give us pause and caution us with Godly fear.

And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it, Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.  -Luke 19:41-42

This may be difficult for us to rap our minds around but He plainly declares that things could have been different for Israel had Jerusalem chosen Him on this their day.

They missed God’s plan for them as a nation because they didn’t see it; or rather, they saw it only in context of their day. They interpreted it in light of the politics and corrupted religious views of their time. They weren’t looking for a King riding on the colt of a donkey, they wanted a Conqueror riding upon a White Stallion to deliver them from the hated Roman occupation of their land. They missed their day! The day of their destiny simply because they were looking in another direction. Now Jesus weeps over the City and foretells the consequences of their choice. Their Holy City destroyed, their Temple cast down, their people, those who survived, enslaved and scattered among nations where they’d find no rest, stability or true place of belonging. They’ll live as exiles from their homeland for almost two millennia while others occupy and abuse it.

Destiny diverted isn’t necessarily Destiny lost.

Before we find ourselves pointing the finger and assigning blame to Israel or the Jews for their history, let’s look to ourselves and understand we’re just as vulnerable; that we not miss what GOD is doing with Israel today. While some would drive them into oblivion we’d do well to see what The Lord has done to restore them to THEIR LAND AND DESTINY as a people and Nation; and what this restoration means for the whole world.

There’s a showdown coming in the Middle East with millions of lives on both sides of the line at stake. Israel’s Messiah will come. This time HE won’t be meek and lowly, riding on the colt of a donkey, HE will be riding that white stallion as HE splits the sky and all men will see HIM … and they’ll know exactly WHO HE is, so will Israel and they’ll weep for HIM as one mourns for an only Son.

How’s it all going to unfold? I don’t claim to know that. Nor do I know the day or the hour. But I do believe that there’s a huge company of us worldwide who diligently watch and await HIS return and sense in our spirits that the season has changed and the time is near. As the signs of the times become more apparent, our critics will declare, “These things have always been; where is the promise of HIS coming? You Christians have been saying these things for 2000 years.”

Yes, it’s true! Multiplied generations of us have lived in the hope and expectancy of HIS coming. I would caution the sceptic however; that first generation of believers saw the Fall of Jerusalem and the scattering of Israel into the nations just as Jesus told them they would. He spoke of another generation that would see what the Prophets of Israel foresaw, The regathering and restoration of Israel in what they called the Last Days. In case you’ve missed my point,

WE ARE THAT GENERATION!

This I do know. When HE that shall come does come, there will be Sheep and Goat Nations which shall be divided.

And here’s where we come in and where the Great Commission of World Evangelism plays out. There’s only one Great Commission and the command, “GO YE!” has not been rescinded. Our labors and efforts to take the Good News of Jesus Christ into all the World for a Witness unto all peoples is our prime directive. This is our mission. What we do will effect the outcome.

My team and I are preparing to depart for

Lebanon, Egypt and Israel

We depart in the next 30 days. We need your backing to see success. Each one of these nations has a Prophetic destiny in the plan of God. Our efforts and labor are a part of that plan. We’re intertwined with the destiny of these nations. You may chose to participate or not, the choice is yours but we, as The Lord instructed, are asking for you to help us do what we’ve been assigned to do. We have a distinct plan in our approach toward each of these nations, you’ll see it begin to unfold over the next few months.

The Lord’s victory is not restrained by many or few. If you have a heart for the Nations, you’re exactly who we want to stand with us, together we’ll share in the victory.
