The first thing that I noticed about this new video, just in this morning from Pastor Rezek of Praise Chapel, Al Qusia; everyone was wearing masks again. I immediately contacted him to find out what was going on with the pandemic in Upper Egypt.
THERE HAS BEEN A THIRD WAVE OUTBREAK OF THE VIRUS SWEEPING ACROSS EGYPT.
Here is today’s conversation between Pastor Rezk and I.
REZK: I was hesitating to write this to you, so as not to put more of a load upon you. I had decided not to write, but as you have asked me, I will tell you.
The status of the pandemic is the worst yet; many deaths every day, the husbands of these women can’t find work to feed their families. They have need for more food, medicine, masks, sanitizers and of course prayers and the Word of God are so essential.
We are exerting all efforts to do this according to what is in our hands. Please pray 🙏for us.
My wife and the two children got Covid but healed miraculously. We pray 🙏and expect His miraculous intervention.
JACK: Is this a second or third wave of the virus there in Egypt or has it been a steady increase?
REZK: It is the beginning of the third wave. It has caused us to cancel all the celebrations of Resurrection day on the 2nd of May and the meetings before it .
The government has announced an emergency state for 3 months.
The hospitals have no room for other patients. They’ve opened other places but now these are also full.
JACK: The same thing is happening in Iraq with Pastor Layth and our Church in Duhok. This is awful!
Is there inflation in the economy over there? Food and living expenses going up in price?
REZK: Yes! It affects every aspect of life. The lack of resources and living expenses have jumped up in price very quickly.
You can see this on the faces of those women.
JACK: I know, this is Worldwide. GOD HELP US! Somehow HE will get us through this.
After speaking with Pastor Rezk I immediately contacted Pastor Habib in Al Minya to inquire of the pandemic’s current effects there. The situation is the same.
JACK: Habib, what is the status of the pandemic in your area now?
HABIB: The epidemic is very high, 67% this week. All churches are closed until May 20.
The situation for our people in Northern Iraq is even worse. They’ve been hit there by a Third Wave variant of the virus as well rising inflation in an already devastated economy.
